Our St. Patrick’s Day Cookie Decorating Class in Tulsa at All Things Cake was a full house, and it was such a fun evening filled with creativity, laughter, and lots of royal icing.
Students gathered in our Tulsa decorating studio to learn professional cookie decorating techniques while creating festive St. Patrick’s Day cookies featuring shamrocks, plaid patterns, and playful green designs.
Whether guests came solo or with friends, family, or coworkers, everyone left with new skills and a box of beautifully decorated cookies.
What You Learn in Our Royal Icing Cookie Decorating Classes
One of the reasons our royal icing cookie decorating classes in Tulsa are so popular is that students don’t just decorate cookies — they learn real techniques used by professional decorators.
During this class, students learned how to work with two different royal icing consistencies:
Outline Consistency:
A thicker icing used to create clean borders around each cookie.
Flood Consistency:
A thinner icing used to fill in the cookie and create a smooth surface.
After outlining and flooding their cookies, students allowed the base layer to dry slightly before adding additional details and accents.
This step is key to creating dimension and layered designs in decorated sugar cookies.
Wet-on-Wet Cookie Decorating Techniques
Students also practiced several wet-on-wet decorating techniques, which allow decorators to add patterns while the icing is still wet.
This technique makes it easy to create smooth designs and detailed patterns.
During the class, students decorated cookies with:
- Polka dot designs
- Heart patterns
- Shamrock cookies
- Plaid designs
- Chevron patterns
Even though everyone started with the same cookies and icing colors, every finished set looked completely unique.
That’s one of the most fun parts of a cookie decorating class — watching everyone’s creativity come to life.
A Fun Night Out in Tulsa
