We are always excited when someone orders a jungle themed cake because there are so many decorating possibilities and this one for Baby Franklin certainly didn’t disappoint!
This cake started with a buttercream iced base, on which we added an ombre effect in baby green. Once smooth, we chilled each tier of cake so they would be ready for stacking. For the animals, we hand-sculpted those with our favorite fondant – Satin Ice fondant. We made the bodies and then added arms, legs, heads, ears and tails. Once the animals were dry, we dusted their rosy cheeks and added shading and detail.
Once the animals were complete and the cake was stacked, we were able to assemble and complete the cake. We added some leaves, vines and flowers to coordinate with the invitation. “Welcome Franklin” was added and painted gold. The overall look of the cake is fun, whimsical and perfectly captures the theme of this shower…Welcome Baby Franklin!!
