We do A LOT of dinosaur theme cakes and every single one is different! This was such a fun one to create!

For this cake, we started with a 6″ round jumbo cake to serve about 15 people. We call this one a “jumbo” because it’s taller than a “standard” cake. Standard tiers have two layers of cake with filling in between and are about 4″ tall. Jumbo tiers have three layers of cake with filling in between and are about 6″ tall.

We iced this cake in white buttercream and used a stipple brush to splatter paint it with green food coloring. We then used piping tips (#233, #32) and green buttercream to add texture and color to the sides of the cake. We added some tropical leaf cut-outs with fondant and added our “Happy Birthday” sentiment to the cake board. But what makes this cake unique is the gold dinosaur toys! These dinosaur figurines make great cake and party decor and are so easy to make with some inexpensive toys and gold paint.
