Falling For This Cake!

Dark teal is officially my new favorite Fall color! Mixed with all the traditional colors of the season, it just adds a pop of lovely that I never knew the season needed!

We created this cake for one of my favorite venues, The Hidden Porch, in Catoosa, OK. This outdoor venue has all the Fall vibes with natural scenery and fairy lights. And when the weather turns crisp and cool, this venue is P E R F E C T!

For this cake, we iced each tier in buttercream and then covered each tier in satin ice fondant. We used a combination of teal and navy Americolor gel food color to get the perfect dark teal. Once each tier was covered in fondant, we stacked the cake using bubble straws and dowels for support.

We added faux flowers and dried oranges for accents. We then finished the look with edible rose gold leaf for a pop of metallic.

Boho at its Best!

This boho styled wedding was so fun to be a part of! This couple won their dream wedding in a contest organized by Greenleaf Barn and the whole day was donated by a host of amazing vendors!

This couple chose this terra cotta and white buttercream wedding cake with macrame accents. To create this look we started with smooth buttercream on each tier. We then extruded off-white fondant and twisted it to create the macrame look. Each strand had to be placed individually. Once the main strands were on the cake, tassels were added. This was a tedious design, but totally worth it!

Everest

Everest is pretty much the coolest name ever! This baby shower cake was aptly themed with mountains and trees to fit the baby’s name.

For this two-tiered cake, we used a combination of buttercream and fondant to create this mountain look. We started with a smooth buttercream base and added mountains in three different shades to give them depth. We then added buttercream piped trees in the foreground. The final touch was to add a name plaque for baby Everest…so cool!

Potted Plant Cake

What kind of cake do you get your plant-loving wife for her birthday? Well a potted plant cake, of course!

This cake was super fun to create! We started with a six-inch round jumbo, which is three layers of cake making the tier six inches tall instead of the standard four inch tall tiers. We iced this cake in gray and added some darker streaks here and there to give it a marbled look. We smoothed it completely, leveled the top and chilled it in the fridge.

We made the leaves from green fondant and shaded them with a darker green petal dust. These were skewered and set aside to dry. Once the cake was chilled, we cut a small section out of the center on top and added some Oreo crumbs for dirt. We added some edible silver leaf accents sporadically on the sides of the cake and placed the skewered leaves in the top.

The last thing was to add our sentiment to the board with fondant cut our letters that we glued to the board. The customer loved it and reported back that his wife loved it as well! That’s why we do what we do!

Petit Fours For The Win!

Who doesn’t love petit fours? Anything bite sized and full of flavor is pretty perfect in my book!

We typically get requests for these mini treats for Mother’s Day, weddings and showers, but we are seeing them more around the Holidays, too!

Our petit fours come in round or square and can be coated in a thin shell of chocolate or white chocolate. Inside these delicious treats you will find two layers of cake and a filling sandwiched in between.

Think Chocolate with Raspberry Filling…..

or Almond Cake with Lemon Filling…….

or Italian Cream cake with Cream Cheese Mousse……

The combinations are endless!

On the outside, we can add a petite flower to coordinate with your event as seen above. Or we can add a drizzle with glitter, edible gold leafing or monogram piping. Just tell us a bit about your event and we can make some design recommendations.

Woodland Wonderland

Woodland creatures have been a popular theme for baby showers and birthday parties for a few years now and I personally hope they never go out of style! They are just so cute!

We often receive requests for quotes on 3D sculpted animals and characters. Anytime we have to hand sculpt a topper or accent, the price point will go up simply because it takes more time and materials to make 3D animals than it does flat or 2D animals such as those on the cake below. But as you can see, the flat animals are just as cute!

For this cake, we started with a textured buttercream base. We then added the three main characters to the cake and piped a bit of buttercream grass here and there. We then added accents of fresh flowers and greenery that were being used elsewhere in the party space to tie everything in the room together.

The end result is a cute cake that isn’t too overdone. The fresh flowers added an element of nature to the woodland theme and the fondant characters balanced out the storybook effect of the baby shower. The perfect combo to welcome baby to the world!

Cinderella’s Carriage Cake

This cake was certainly fit for a princess!

The actual “cake” portion of this was the round part. We used a six inch ball pan to bake our cake and iced it with a heavy, smooth crumb coat. The main thing to remember when icing a cake that will be covered in fondant is that the fondant will take on the shape of whatever its draped over. So if your buttercream layer is bumpy, your fondant will be as well.

Once we had our ball covered in the perfect shade of baby blue fondant, we scored it to give it some dimension. We then mounted the ball cake onto a board that was set on a RKT block to elevate it. This allow for space under the base so the wheels look more natural.

Once elevated, we secured the cake and the board to the RKT block and the cake drum underneath. We did this by sharpening one end of the dowel rod in a pencil sharpener, so it would pierce the board, block and drum. This held all the main elements together vertically.

Once everything was secure, we were able to add all the tiny details including the spiral wheels, gold trim accents and window.

With this cake being a six inch ball, it only served 10-12 people, but it’s definitely a fun centerpiece cake for a princess party!

Sushi Cake Balls

If you’re looking for a fun and easy treat to go along with your Sushi party, look no further! These sushi cake balls are simple and delicious. AND you can get the kiddos involved with creating them, too!

To start you’ll need to have rolled and dipped your cake balls like you normally would. These were chocolate cake and icing, rolled into a ball and dipped in dark chocolate. Once set, we dipped just the tops of the cake balls in white chocolate and then set them in white jimmies until the white chocolate sets. Once the white chocolate sets and in the white jimmies, you can add your gummy candy accents using white chocolate as the glue.

To transport these sushi cake balls, we placed each one in a mini cupcake liner. We then used a mini cupcake clamshell box, so they wouldn’t move around.

If The Shoe Fits

Shoe cakes are some of our absolute favorites! Just like our cakes, these shoes can be made custom and we know how special these are to those that wear them. Often, we will create a shoe cake when the birthday boy or girl is receiving a new pair for their birthday gift. And sometimes we create these cakes as for wedding receptions to show off the grooms favorite pair. Regardless of the occasion, a lot of time and attention goes into these cakes!
