Somewhere Over The Rainbow

I don’t think there is anyone out there that won’t recognize the theme of this cake!  The Wizard of Oz is a classic that has definitely stood the test of time.  This 1939 film is a favorite of this birthday girl, so it became the theme of her 60th Birthday Party!

This cake included all the iconic elements of the film including the yellow brick road, witches hat and striped tights, ruby slippers and the rainbow, of course.  Happy 60th!!

LOL Surprise!

So….for every Fortnite cake we do for the guys, we do an LOL Surprise cake for the gals!  These cakes are super fun and fiesty with lots of colors and spunk!  This week’s LOL cake was iced in hot pink buttercream with turquoise blue accents.

We added lots of toys to this cake since these characters fall under copyright protection.  We also added these adorable fondant letters that stood upright on the front of the board.  It’s like seeing Leighton’s name in lights!  The swirly suckers, ice cream cone and other accents made this cake bright and sweet.  Happy 6th Birthday, Leighton!

Battle Royale…Again!

The Fortnite trend is not going anywhere anytime soon!  My house is filled with sounds of people playing it and even at work I can’t escape it…which isn’t a bad thing at all.  We love making Fortnite cakes and this week we made several.  They were all different sizes and a bit different in design as well.

The first cake was a single tier cake to serve 16, which was iced in lime green buttercream.  We then added fondant accents including dog tags, scenery and V-bucks.  For the toppers, we added a grenade, treasure chest and llama, which were all hand-sculpted from fondant.  The llama is especially fun to make with its layers of fringe in purple and blue.

The second and third fondant cakes were two-tiers to serve 25-30.  These cakes were both iced in buttercream, with the one for Cash having a camouflage effect on the bottom tier.  Both cakes had fondant accents  – some were 2D and some were 3D like the med kits, llama, bullets, treasure chest and trees.  We had a great time creating these cakes…Happy Birthday Boys!!

Sweet Sparrow Wedding

If you haven’t been to Sparrow in Stillwater, you have to make the trip!  This venue is about 90 minutes from our shop in Tulsa, but totally worth the drive!

For this wedding cake, the bride chose Vanilla Cake with Cream Cheese Mousse Filling for her guests, although her anniversary tier was Red Velvet…yum!  We did four stacked tiers of buttercream iced goodness.  We alternated with rough and horizontal texture.  At the venue, fresh flowers  and greenery were added to pull the bride’s colors into the design.

The overall look was romantic and dreamy…we are in love!

Congratulations Kelsey & James!

Meeker Wedding at Camp Loughridge

It was the first gorgeous Saturday in a long time.  After weeks of cold and rain, the sun was out and it was a perfect day for a March wedding and we loved delivering these desserts!

For the main cake, the bride chose a simple 4-tier, all buttercream stacked cake.  We added a horizontal texture to give the tiers some dimension.  The inside of the cake was a mixture of our most popular flavors with an Almond, Vanilla and Chocolate tier with Raspberry Filling.

At the venue, we added their gorgeous flowers and adorable topper.

For additional servings, the couple added brownie bites, some of which we topped with a Peanut Butter Buttercream…delish!  We also did a really fun cake for the groom, who loves to fish.  This cake was Strawberry Cake with Chocolate Buttercream Filling.  We create the cake to look like a fishing hole with edible rocks, grasses and cat tails.  We then sculpted a bass fish from Rice Krispie Treats and covered then in fondant.  We added fins and other markings to make it look realistic.  We then airbrushed it and added eyes and final details.

All the details came together perfectly for this Camp Loughridge wedding!  We can’t wait for the next one!

Cake Bar For the Win

Cake Bars are the latest and greatest in weddings.  The variety of flavors is a win for the guests and the set-up is beautiful and so easy for the bride!  This cake bar was set up for a Wedding Season Kick-Off dinner at The Mansion at Woodward Park.  It featured five cakes, each a different flavor.

This cake assortment included Chocolate, Vanilla, Red Velvet, Almond and Chocolate Chip…so delish!   Each cake was iced with a thin layer of buttercream to give it the nearly naked look.  Next, we added a caramel or ganache drip to each cake.  Once it was set, we added macaron and fresh flower accents in fun Springtime colors.  We added table tents with the flavors and fillings to make it easy on the guests to know what they wanted to sample.

We used a variety of cake stands and pedestals to create the look of the cake bar.  We added logo cookies as favors for the guests to take home.  What do you think about cake bars?  Would you want one instead of a traditional stacked cake?
